Housing Resource Center
DASH’s Intake Team operates the Housing Resource Center (HRC) to provide a ‘no wrong door’ response, ensuring survivors can access resources and services regardless of where they first seek help.
Made up of Community & Housing Resource Navigators, our Intake Team assesses survivors’ needs, conducts safety planning, and helps them navigate complex service systems to connect with critical resources.
Survivors can access:
- A dedicated Navigator to help identify goals and make referrals
- Referrals to a range of services, including housing assistance, legal assistance, and public benefits
- Individualized safety planning
- Flexible, survivor-led support
- Information about and connections to DASH’s housing programs
- Walk-in, phone, and email access options to meet survivors where they are

Cornerstone Emergency Housing
DASH’s emergency housing unit in our Cornerstone building offers immediate, temporary shelter for survivors and their children fleeing dangerous situations. Individuals and families can stay for up to 29 days with access to:
- Confidential, secure location with gated entry and 24/7 security
- A dedicated coach to help identify goals, connect to resources, and navigate services and systems
- Fully furnished unit
- Safety planning
- Financial assistance to cover basic needs, including groceries and transportation
Cornerstone Transitional Housing
DASH provides 41 units of safe housing where residents and their children can live safely in a monitored, gated property with a confidential address.
During their time in Cornerstone, residents work closely with DASH coaches to develop personalized goal plans covering a range of services and resources. Services are offered on an opt-in, voluntary basis, and our holistic, individualized, and trauma-informed approach to transitional housing ensures that residents receive the safety and support they need to rebuild their lives.
Residents will be able to access:
- Up to two (2) years of housing
- Confidential DC location with gated entry and 24/7 security
- Fully furnished apartment (efficiency unit or one-bedroom unit based on family size)
- Cost of rent and utilities covered for the duration of program participation
- Safety planning
- Weekly check-ins and quarterly care conferencing
- Intensive advocacy and crisis support
- Goal setting and guidance / support to help achieve goals
- Support to access wraparound services
- Support to access education, job training, career planning, and employment to achieve economic empowerment
- Flexible financial assistance to cover basic needs and support achievement of goals
Empowerment Project
Empowerment Project provides scattered-site housing for individuals and families by providing safe housing, holistic services, and resources. Services are offered on an opt-in, voluntary basis, and our holistic, individualized, and trauma-informed approach to transitional housing ensures that participants receive the safety and support they need to rebuild their lives.
Empowerment Project participants will be able to access:
- Up to two (2) years of housing, with the cost of rent and utilities covered for the duration of program participation
- Safety planning
- Support to find and lease an apartment in the Greater DC region, and set up their new home
- Advocacy and crisis support
- Weekly check-ins and quarterly care conferencing
- Goal setting and guidance / support to help achieve goals
- Support to access wraparound services, including legal services and benefits
- Support to access education, job training, career planning, and employment to achieve economic empowerment
- Flexible financial assistance to cover basic needs and support achievement of goals
Right to Dream
Right to Dream provides scattered-site housing for transition-aged youth survivors (aged 18-24 years) by providing safe housing, holistic services, and resources, and connecting them with tools and resources to enable them to grow and move toward self-sufficiency.
Services are offered on an opt-in, voluntary basis, and our holistic, individualized, and trauma-informed approach to transitional housing ensures that participants receive the safety and support they need to rebuild their lives.
Through Right to Dream, participants will be able to access:
- Up to two (2) years of housing, with the cost of rent and utilities covered for the duration of program participation
- Support to find and lease an apartment in the DC Metro area, and set up their new home
- Safety planning
- Intensive advocacy and crisis support
- Weekly check-ins and quarterly care conferencing
- Support to develop life skills and live independently
- Goal setting and guidance / support to help achieve goals
- Support to access individually tailored wraparound services based on identified needs and goals
- Support to access education, job training, career planning, and employment to achieve economic empowerment
- Flexible financial assistance to cover basic needs and support achievement of goals
Safe Nights Fund
The Safe Nights Fund provides temporary safe housing through a hotel stay with advocacy and support to survivors and their families who have a long-term plan for housing but are unable to access safe housing while they await placement.
This includes:
- Up to seven (7) nights in a hotel
- Transport to hotel
- Food assistance
- Trauma-informed advocacy
- Individualized safety plan
Survivor Resilience Fund
The Survivor Resilience Fund provides one-time financial assistance to survivors of domestic and sexual violence to remove barriers to safe housing. Financial assistance must be related to victimization, and funds may be used to cover a range of expenses, including:
- Home security measures
- Utilities debt
- Rental arrears
- Legal or medical fees
- Moving costs
- Security deposit
- First month’s rent
