Our Approach

At DASH, our approach to supporting survivors is guided by the DASH Model—a values-based framework for decision-making, service delivery, and organizational culture.


Rooted in our mission to ensure safe housing and support for all survivors, the DASH Model is built on three core elements that shape how we show up—for survivors and for each other:

Survivors with complex needs are best served through programs that are highly individualized, relational, and adaptable

Implementing programs that are trauma-informed, flexible, and individualized ensures staff do not rely on a “one size fits all” approach

Staff require an equivalent degree of autonomy, flexibility, and skill-building to meet the complex needs of survivors

This model:

  • Supports and reflects DASH’s core beliefs
  • Clearly defines our values and connects them across programs and teams
  • Equips staff to make thoughtful, values-driven decisions even when the path isn’t clear
  • Encourages learning, growth, and reflection at every level
  • Leads to survivor empowerment

By grounding our work in this model, we ensure that every decision—from frontline advocacy to organizational strategy—is survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and guided by shared values.
